Common questions

What should a complete beginner learn first about gold trading?

A complete beginner should learn position sizing and risk before chart patterns. Gold at 1 standard lot is 100 oz, and one pip is 0.01, so a small price move is a large rupee swing. Understand margin, stop placement and how much a losing trade costs before you study indicators. Use our position size and pip value calculators to see the numbers.

How much money do I need to start trading gold?

There is no single answer because it depends on your lot size, leverage and risk per trade. What matters is that your account can absorb the stop distance on the smallest position you intend to take. At 1:200, a 0.10-lot gold position needs about $85.50 margin, but margin is not the same as the risk on the trade. Size from your stop, not from the margin figure.

Is gold trading the same as buying physical gold in India?

No, gold trading on XAU/USD is not the same as buying physical gold. Physical gold is an outright purchase with storage and making charges; XAU/USD is a leveraged contract on the dollar price, settled in cash, with no delivery. Leverage cuts both ways and losses can exceed your initial margin if you do not use stops. Understand the contract before funding an account.

Which platform should a beginner use for gold?

Start on the platform you can actually operate without hesitation. FxPro publishes support for MT4, MT5, cTrader and FxPro Edge, and each has a different interface and order ticket. A beginner is usually better served by the one with the simplest stop-loss entry, not the one with the most indicators. Practise on a demo until order entry is automatic.

How long does it take to learn to trade gold properly?

It depends on how much screen time you put in and whether you review your trades. There is no fixed timeline, and anyone quoting one is guessing. A realistic path is weeks on a demo to learn order mechanics, then months on small size to learn your own behaviour around losses. Skill shows up in consistency of process, not in a certificate.
