What the number means

This is the spot price of gold (XAU/USD) — the global benchmark. Your broker's price sits a few units either side because of the spread. Use it to size a trade or check margin.

FAQ

Common questions

Where does the live XAU/USD price on this page come from?

The live price reflects the interbank spot market for gold in US dollars, aggregated from wholesale quotes rather than from a single venue. It is a reference feed for reading the market, not an executable quote. Your broker's own price is the one that applies to your orders.

Why is my broker's gold quote different from the live price shown here?

The difference comes from what sits between the wholesale market and your account: the broker's markup, its liquidity sources, and the bid-ask spread at that moment. Thin periods widen it. Your platform quote is the tradable one; the reference feed is for context, so expect a small gap and do not trade against it.

Is the live price delayed, and does that matter for my entries?

A web feed is normally a snapshot rather than a tick-by-tick stream, so treat it as indicative. For entries and exits, use your platform's chart, which reflects the price you can actually deal at. The reference price near 4275.0 is useful for orientation and for calculator inputs, not for timing a fill.

Why does the price sometimes jump sharply with no obvious news?

Sharp jumps usually come from scheduled US data releases, central bank announcements or a sudden change in risk sentiment, and gold reacts to all three. Liquidity thins in the seconds around those events, so quotes can gap. It depends on the calendar; checking release times before you hold a position is the practical defence.

Can I convert the live dollar price into rupees per gram myself?

Yes, roughly. Multiply the XAU/USD price by the USD/INR rate to get rupees per troy ounce, then divide by 31.1035 for rupees per gram. The result will not match a jeweller's board because local duty and premiums are excluded. Use it as an approximation, not a dealing price.
